Assessment and Formulation

Simon believes that a thorough assessment and a sound formulation of a person’s difficulties are essential components of all successful therapeutic work. Please see the Assessment and Formulation pages to find out more.

Therapeutic Work

Simon offers a limited therapy service, primarily for people struggling with the impact of Autism Spectrum Conditions but also for families who are seeking help with more general behavioural and emotional difficulties.  Simon bases his therapeutic work on an integrative model, i.e. an approach that draws on the most appropriate components of a range of therapeutic models rather than following one single approach.  He believes that this creates a more tailored approach, and one that is more consistent with the formulation approach described here.  At the centre of Simon’s therapeutic work is a total regard for the capacity of families and young people to find their own solutions to the problems they face.  Within this approach, change is more sustainable over time as it is built on the family’s own beliefs, resources and goals.
